I’m passionate about fishing and love trying out new gear. Over the years this has included a variety of rods and reels, some separate and others as combos. I’ve learned a lot about what works and what doesn’t trying out new stuff, and I’ve realized there are some things I like better than others. One of these is rod and reel combos which I truly prefer over buying each piece separately.
There are actually several reasons why I prefer rod and reel combos and one of the main advantages is the price. I’ve noticed that even a top rated fishing combo can still cost less than purchasing each piece one at a time, even if they are the same make and model. I’m really not sure why this is, I’m sure it has something to do with packaging and marketing but the fact remains that a fishing combo is less expensive. I don’t know about you but for me this is always a bonus.
Rod and reel combos are also perfectly matched, and by this I mean that they are designed to work flawlessly together. This is important when you are fishing. The last thing you want is for your reel to be too light or heavy for your rod, or vice versa. That is one of the best ways to ensure that you never have a successful fishing trip. Since the rod and reel are already matched there is absolutely no guesswork on your part.
I also love how easy a rod and reel combo is to use. In most cases everything is assembled so the gear is ready to go right out of the box. All you have to do is wind the line and attach the hook and lure and you are ready to start fishing. You can even find rod and reel combos with the line already spooled. You really can’t get any easier than that, unless the fish just started jumping into your lap.
You can also find all types of rod and reel combos for almost any type of fishing. I think it is this wide selection that continues to make them a popular choice for anglers of all skill levels. Even seasoned professionals have been know to use a fishing combo from time to time, and if it is good enough for them it is certainly fine for me.
These are just some of the reasons why I prefer rod and reel combos, this post would be way too long if I kept listing all of their advantages. All I can say is that chances are you will be able to find a rod and reel combo that is perfect for you, and who knows maybe you’ll decide that you prefer this setup to buying your gear separately.
